What is ORP?
ORP stands for Oxidation Reduction Potential. It tells you how strong the oxidation process is in a liquid and is measured with an ORP Meter or ORP Electrode. ORP is also known as Redox and is often abbreviated with Rx.
ORP is a very complicated chemical process that is happening all around us at any time. ORP tells us more about the capability of a liquid to disinfect itself. The higher an ORP value, the more capable a liquid is of staying sanitized.
Measuring ORP has a wide variety of applications, but is most commonly used in water treatment. Both for Domestic as Industrial water treatment, ORP measurement and monitoring are crucial in order to have constant good water quality that is potable or usable.
If you own a swimming pool or a spa, you probably heard of ORP before. ORP is used worldwide as a scale to dose chlorine to disinfect the water of the pool.
